Today we're gonna be using the SmartStraps tactical ratcheting straps. These are gonna be great for tying stuff down in the bed of your truck, on your trailer. And for this instance today we're just gonna be tying down my mower. It's gonna have a working load limit of a thousand pounds and a break strength of 3000 pounds and they're about 10 foot long. So to put these two together properly, we're gonna go on the outside end. So the side that's not gonna be closed on whenever we're ratcheting up, we wanna make sure the line is perfect and straight there. more

Erickson Ratchet and Carabiner Hook Tie-Down Ropes Review- Video
What we're looking at today is the Erickson tight rope. This is what it looks like. We're gonna get a carabiner on both sides, but on one end we're gonna get a little ratcheting mechanism right there to get everything nice and tight. The weight capacity on this is gonna be 75 pounds, so for the lighter stuff, but what we're using it for is we always have feed buckets, other buckets, sprayers, and stuff like that. They don't really weigh a whole lot, but on the side by side, it kind of gets jostled around and I hate hearing those buckets move around. So with this, we just have them nice and secured so I'm not gonna have to deal with that whenever I'm going down to feed my cows. more

These are designed to attach to your trailer or your truck bed with the included angled mounting brackets and hardware. These angled mounting brackets, when you attached this to it, will hold the tie-downs at a 45 degree tilt for easier access and operation, so their ideal for wall mount or floor mount applications, and they permanently bolt on to any flat surface with the included hardware. Now, these are self-retracting straps, which will automatically wind up into the built-in housing, and they'll maintain constant tension on the straps for minimal ratcheting when you're tightening the straps down, and you can see, they keep the straps neatly stowed when they're not in use. So basically, when you go the use this, what you'll do is pull up, there's an inner release lever right here, so you pull up with that, put it all the way to the top, and then it'll let you pull out as much strap as you need, and then you'll hook that to your tie-down point. more

These are gonna be good for vehicle straps, so we have two of them here on the back and two of them on the front. They are shorter length straps, so that's why they're made more for vehicles, that way they don't have as far to go. But you wanna make sure it has that ratchet, that tension down, 'cause you definitely don't want the vehicle going anywhere on your trailer when you're going on the road. Now, since this is made for hauling vehicles, like I said, the length is a little bit less than other ratchet straps and it's gonna be eight foot long, and it's gonna be two inches wide. It's also gonna have a safe working load limit of 3,333 pounds, and then it's gonna have a break strength of 10,000 pounds. more

Today, we're gonna be checking out these ratchet straps from ShockStraps, and what these are gonna do, are they're gonna have shock absorbers built into them so when you're hauling something with a suspension, like I threw my vehicle up on the trailer today. So as you go, it's gonna bounce if you hit bumps. And that's gonna compress down on that shock absorber and all that shock's gonna stay there, rather than if you just had regular ratchet straps, that wear and tear would go straight on the strap. So as it goes up and down going down the road, that's gonna tighten and loosen those straps and just wear them down over time. You're gonna have to stop pretty frequently to make sure they're still tight. more

So you're gonna have to stop frequently on those long trips to make sure it's still nice and tied down. more
